Introduction

In this video we will show how to assign, remove, and rename tags. Ideally, you will have identified the resources in need of tagging activity by searching and filtering with the features described in the previous Query Engine video.

Let’s get started.

Batch Assign Tags to Resources

At the Tag Manager Dashboard, click the Tag Manager tab on the left sidebar to open the available options and then select the Tag Explorer option. The Tag Explorer dashboard opens, displaying all resources within your connected environment, arranged in columns by Resource ID, Account ID, Type, etcetera.
To assign a tag to a resource, check the resource ID box on the Tag Explorer Dashboard. If you are assigning tags to multiple resources, check all the applicable resource ID boxes. Then click the Update Tags tab in the upper right corner of the dashboard.

A pop-up window provides you with different update options; Add tags, Remove tags, Rename tag keys, and Rename tag values.

The Add tags tab is used to assign tags to the checked resources. Complete the fields for the tag key and the tag value that are being assigned. When you complete the fields, you can add additional tags by clicking the + symbol immediately to the right of the fields. This opens fields for the next tag you want to assign. When all fields are complete click the Add Tags tab.

Batch Tag Edit

The Remove tags tab is used to remove tags from checked resources. Complete the value field for the tags you wish to remove. As with the other tabs in this window when you complete the field, you can remove additional tags by clicking the + symbol immediately to the right of the fields. This opens a field for the next tag you want to remove. When all fields are complete click the Remove Tags tab.

The Rename tag keys tab is used to rename existing tag keys. Complete the fields for the tags you wish to rename. and rename it for the selected resource or resources. As with the other tabs in this window when you complete the field, you can rename additional tags by clicking the + symbol immediately to the right of the fields. This opens a field for the next tag you want to rename. When all fields are complete click the Rename Tag Keys tab.

The Rename tag values tab is used to rename existing tag values. It will provide fields to enter the tag, select the value to replace and enter a replacement value for the selected resource or resources. Complete the fields for the tags you wish to rename. and rename it for the selected resource or resources. As with the other tabs in this window when you complete the field, you can rename additional tags by clicking the + symbol immediately to the right of the fields. This opens a field for the next tag you want to rename. When all fields are complete click the Rename Tag Values tab.
