Disconnecting Your AWS Accounts

Overview

This guide outlines how to remove Cloudsaver resources from your AWS environment after the account connection period.

Key Requirements

The disconnection tool requires specific naming conventions: StackSet names must follow the Cloudsaver-StackSet format, and stack names must be Cloudsaver-<AWSAccountID> (for example: Cloudsaver-123456789101).

Disconnection Steps

  1. Navigate to Settings > Connections to view linked accounts
  2. Apply a filter showing connected accounts only
  3. Select the trash icon next to accounts you want to disconnect

Automated Changes in AWS

Once initiated, the process automatically:

  • Deletes the Cost and Usage Report (CUR) and associated billing bucket
  • Terminates EventBridge connections and rules
  • Removes CloudFormation Stacks and StackSets
  • Deletes IAM roles and policies

Important Notes

The process continues running even if errors occur. Cloudsaver removes the account entirely from the application, including all associated resources and secondary accounts.

FAQ

If your CloudFormation Stacks don't use the required naming conventions, you cannot use the automated tool. Manual deletion of CloudFormation resources and IAM roles becomes necessary as an alternative.
